In this first edition of the BaylorHealth Google+ Hangout, Dr. David Winter, Dr. Cherese Wiley and Dr. Roger Khetan discuss the current outbreak of whooping cough (pertussis) and measles in the North Texas area. Experts say they haven't seen this many cases of whooping cough in 50 years. In this video, the doctors discuss what could be causing this outbreak, the importance of vaccinations and the vaccine/autism link myth that is most likely behind this. They also share helpful tips for how to protect yourself from and who is most at risk for contracting these highly contagious diseases.
This video is a part of the Baylor Scott & White Health "Healthy Hangout" series, where our panel of experts will discuss prevalent health topics, to provide you with the resources and information you need to make proactive decisions about your health.
